International dialogue on countering corruption

An international round table on countering corruption organized by the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with the support of the OSCE Office was held In Kiev.

Experts and practitioners from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine took part in the forum.

The Kazakhstan delegation was headed by the head of the Academy of Law enforcement Agencies Nail Akhmetzakirov.

The participants studied the progressive experience of implementing effective methods of financial investigations and criminal intelligence, identifying potential risks of corruption and combating them.

Speakers were unanimous in their opinion on the need to actively develop interdepartmental and interstate cooperation, to use effective anti-corruption strategies and tools to counter corruption.

It was noted the importance of professional training of specialists in the field of anti-corruption policy and creation of long-term and short-term training programs for these purposes.

In the context of the given topic, Nail Akhmetzakirov shared his experience of training personnel within the Regional Hub on countering global threats, including corruption and financial crimes.

Particular interest was put on the “E-criminal case” program, which was developed on the initiative of the Prosecutor General within the framework of the President’s Message on the development of digital technologies.

The project covers all stages of the criminal process, from the registration of a crime, investigation and to the execution of a sentence. The head of the Academy stressed that digitalization of the criminal process will solve a number of sensitive issues, as well as simplify the procedure for collecting evidence and drafting procedural documents.

As a part of the visit, the Kazakh delegation visited the National Academy of the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
