Today at the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office, a regular meeting of the Criminological Forum was held to discuss the concept of the bill on improving the criminal and criminal procedure legislation.
It was attended by deputies of the Parliament, representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Constitutional Council, the Office of the Prime Minister, state and law enforcement agencies, lawyers, scientists, media, and heads of higher educational institutions.
Representatives of law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the Republic of Uzbekistan are invited as foreign experts.
As noted by speakers, the bill provides for effective legislative and practical measures to improve the criminal law and modernize the criminal process.
In the framework of the discussions, an exchange of views and experiences on such significant novels as establishing responsibility for attempted misconduct and a minor offense took place; transfer of a number of criminal offenses to the Code of Administrative Offenses; imposing a ban on reconciliation in cases of the commission of new intentional offenses.
The issues of improving the institution of confiscation of property of persons who are not accomplices were also discussed; additional regulation of issues of covert investigative actions; increased liability for poaching.
Following the meeting, recommendations were developed aimed at improving the criminal law, pre-trial process and strengthening human rights standards.
