Successful Negotiation Training

A simulation training seminar on negotiation and conflict management organized by the Law Enforcement Academy with the support of the Israeli Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OSCE Program Office in Nur Sultan has completed its work.

A training event was held for law enforcement and special authorities.

Representatives of Israeli law enforcement services, who have advanced experience in negotiating during crisis situations, acted as experts.

The training is aimed at developing the skills of the negotiating process for law enforcement officers, the ability to respond quickly to any non-standard and crisis situations, and preventing destructive ways of conflict development.

For five days, students were trained in various techniques and tactics of conflict management, mastered the skills and methods of successful negotiation.

Topics covered included active listening, operational response, structure of negotiating groups, time management, the tactical role of gathering information in negotiations, communications, third-party mediators, and organizing a coordinated response.

The sessions were complemented by technical discussions and hands-on exercises based on real-life cases that the Israeli police did in the past. During the simulation exercise, the students got a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the real environment and see a concrete example of the conduct of the negotiation process, as well as act as negotiators themselves.

According to the general opinion of the seminar participants, the training made it possible to obtain the necessary knowledge, skills, which, if necessary, will make it possible to make quick and adequate decisions, correctly resolve the impending conflict, and prevent its escalation.
