To effectively combat poaching

A training seminar on combating poaching, organized by the Law Enforcement Academy in conjunction with the OSCE Office in Nur-Sultan was held at the Almaty Prosecutor’s Office.

It was attended by environmental prosecutors and police, representatives of public associations of forestry and hunting entities, other interested state bodies and international organizations, scientists.

During the training, topical issues of the fight against poaching, improving the efficiency of legislative support for environmental protection and domestic law enforcement practices were discussed, familiarization with the best foreign experience in the field of environmental protection was held.

Based on the analysis of the materials of real criminal cases involving the murder of huntsmen, the students were able to work out a unified algorithm for the response of the employees of territorial inspections to emergency situations. According to experts, such an order will not only help improve the efficiency of work in the field, but, in the first place, will save the lives of people.

An important outcome of the training was the decision to launch a pilot project to conserve the number of rare and endangered species of animals on the territory of the Almaty State Nature Reserve. The establishment and monitoring of trap cameras will allow tracking and suppressing the actions of poachers, as well as preventing corruption by authorized persons.
