«ProLab» at the Astana Public Prosecutor’s Office: a new platform for collaboration between science and practice launched

As part of the Year of Improving the Quality of Departmental Education for Law Enforcement Agencies, the Astana Public Prosecutor’s Office hosted the opening of the «ProLab» training and practical classroom and regional base laboratory.

The event was attended by Nurgalym Abdirov, Rector of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Yerlan Oteuov, Acting Prosecutor of Astana.

The creation of a network of «ProLab» training and practical classrooms and regional base laboratories is being implemented on the initiative of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies and is aimed at strengthening the interaction between science and practice, developing scientific support for the activities of law enforcement agencies, and improving the quality of departmental education.

The «ProLab» regional base laboratory is being established as a scientific and practical platform for researching current issues in law enforcement and prosecutorial activities, as well as for developing scientifically grounded recommendations for addressing them.

The main task of the new platform will be to examine issues arising in the work of the prosecution service, to conduct applied research and to develop practical solutions in the most pressing areas of law enforcement practice. The laboratory’s work will be geared towards the real needs of the prosecution service and improving the effectiveness of its operations.

The laboratory will serve as a single platform for collaboration between law enforcement officers from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, academics, experts, and master’s and doctoral students at the Academy. Such collaboration will enable the prompt identification of problematic issues in law enforcement and the development of effective mechanisms to resolve them based on a scientific approach.

As part of the opening ceremony, the first lecture was held for staff of the Astana City Prosecutor’s Office. The lecture covered the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the work of law enforcement agencies, as well as the practical implementation of the «Law and Order» concept in the modern context.

The opening of the training and practical classroom and the «ProLab» regional base laboratory marked a further step in the implementation of the Law Enforcement Academy’s initiatives to develop scientific support for law enforcement activities, introduce innovative approaches into law enforcement practice, and train a new generation of specialists focused on addressing specific challenges within the law enforcement system.
