On the eve of the International Day of Older Persons, staff of the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited Great Patriotic War veteran Nurgasim Azhitaev.
The veteran was born on January 1, 1925, in the village of Sarkymas, Semipalatinsk Region. From an early age, he endured the hardships of the famine years, and in 1943, after graduating from a sniper school in Novosibirsk, he was sent to the front. He participated in the battles of the Kursk Bulge, the storming of Berlin, and military operations against Japan, completing his service with the rank of company sergeant major.
After the war, Nurgasim Azhitaev devoted himself to public and professional service: he worked as a Komsomol organization leader, military inspector, and master carpenter. He raised seven children, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is the recipient of numerous awards and letters of appreciation, including the “Victory” medal, the medal named after Marshal of the Soviet Union G.K. Zhukov, jubilee medals commemorating Victory anniversaries, and honors for conscientious labor.
During the visit, Academy staff presented the veteran with a commemorative gift and spoke with him and his family. Mr. Azhitaev shared memories of wartime and postwar life.
The Academy representatives expressed deep gratitude to Nurgasim Azhitaev for his courage and dedication to the Motherland, wishing him good health and many years of life. The event contributed to strengthening generational continuity and fostering patriotic education among youth.
