Methods and Methodology: The Foundation of Modern Research

On August 27, 2025, a session on “Methodology and Methods of Scientific Research” was held at the Interdepartmental Research Institute of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies as part of the “School of Scientific Development” course.

The session was led by Sabigul Bekisheva, Doctor of Law and Associate Professor. The lecturer was T. G. Makhanov, a Master of Law and leading researcher at the Institute.

During the session, key methods for collecting and analyzing scientific data were covered, including:

  • Surveying, including the creation of electronic questionnaires.
  • Interviewing.
  • Event analysis.
  • The Delphi method.
  • SWOT and PEST analyses.

Participants also gained practical skills in creating and editing tables and charts to visually present their findings.

The course is designed to provide a deeper understanding of scientific methodology, its tasks, functions, and levels. It helps students form a clear grasp of the principles of scientific research and become familiar with various methodological approaches, thereby fostering systematic and comprehensive thinking in their academic pursuits.
