“The Voice of the Nation — Dombra”: The Academy Celebrates the National Dombra Day

On July 3, 2025, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an event, “Ulyt uni – dombyra” (The Voice of the Nation – Dombra), to celebrate National Dombra Day.

The event was attended by Academy staff, representatives of the “Kuy Anasy” Public Council, and the grandson of the famous Kazakh composer Dina Nurpeisova, Kuanyšev Tolegen Shangitbaevich. The participants performed several melodies on the dombra and spoke about its history and significance in Kazakh culture.

The dombra is more than just a musical instrument; it’s a symbol of national identity, spiritual heritage, and unity. Its sound is associated with the beauty of the steppes, the courage of the batyrs (warriors), and the wisdom of the elders.

The purpose of the event was to highlight the importance of preserving and passing on the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and to promote this ancient musical instrument.

At the end of the event, the Academy’s leadership expressed gratitude to all participants for their respect for national values and their careful preservation of cultural heritage.
