The Law Enforcement Academy, in cooperation with the OSCE Program Office in Astana, held an online international roundtable on “Exploitation of Central Asian Citizens in the Golden Triangle Countries: An International Response to New Challenges.”
The event was attended by representatives of regional prosecutors’ offices, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as leading experts in the field of combating human trafficking.
The discussion covered current issues related to modern trends in human trafficking and illegal exploitation in the region, new cyber fraud schemes involving victims of this crime, and national and international legal mechanisms to combat this phenomenon. Participants shared their experiences on improving the effectiveness of international cooperation in this area.
The round table resulted in recommendations on improving law enforcement mechanisms, strengthening cross-border cooperation, and conducting information and awareness-raising activities among the population on the risks associated with human trafficking. Special attention was paid to the implementation of the provisions of the new Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Combating Trafficking in Persons,” which aims to strengthen the fight against this crime at the national level.
The Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies continues to actively participate in international initiatives aimed at combating transnational crime and protecting the rights of citizens.
