About participation in the International Olympiad and its results

Albina Askarova, a graduate student of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies, became a finalist of the II International Olympiad on Financial Security.

They included 500 contestants out of 40,000 applications received from participants from Brazil, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and South Africa.

The final stage was held on the federal territory of Sirius in the Russian city of Sochi.

Workshops, master classes, panel discussions, exhibitions, as well as meetings with experts of financial intelligence units and compliance officers of the banking sector are organized within the framework of the Olympiad.

Having shown the best results in the qualifying stages, Albina Askarova became the captain of one of the teams formed from representatives of different countries.

According to the results of the simulation exercise “International Risk Assessment Center” (on the use of the Graphus system), the team headed by A. Askarova won the 3rd place, and Albina herself was among the 50 winners and 15 best speakers of the Olympiad.

Askarova A.: “The topic of my research is directly related to financial intelligence and the work of its divisions. Therefore, participation in this event was extremely useful for me. I had the opportunity to complete an internship at the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, talk with representatives of FIUs from different countries, get acquainted with their national experience of financial investigations. It turned out to be interesting and informative to work in teams with participants from other countries.”

The master’s student expresses gratitude to the Academy, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring, as well as to his supervisor – Professor Zhazira Nurlybekova.

The Olympiad is organized by Rosfinmonitoring, the Ministries of Education and Science, and Education of the Russian Federation.
