The draft Constitutional Law “On the Prosecutor’s Office” was discussed today at an international round table at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies.
The extensive composition of the forum participants made it possible to consolidate various points of view of scientists, practicing lawyers and human rights defenders.
Among them are the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan, a member of the Constitutional Council, representatives of the Supreme Court, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”, lawyers, prominent legal scholars from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan, as well as direct developers of the bill.
The adoption of a separate Constitutional law on the supreme supervisory authority is an initiative of the Head of State, included in the package of reforms proposed by him to systematically strengthen the country’s human rights institutions.
In this context, the project involves expanding the powers of the Prosecutor’s office, introducing new concepts, varieties of acts and forms of supervision.
Currently, the document is undergoing a public discussion procedure and is freely available on the Open NPAs portal.
