A solemn event dedicated to the Victory Day and the feat of Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev was held at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies at the Memorial of Glory to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
On April 30, 1945, Lieutenant Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev and his fellow soldier Grigory Bulatov, having overcome 300 meters in 7 hours under heavy enemy fire, were the first from the victorious army to plant the Victory Banner over the Reichstag building.
The event was attended by WWII veteran Nurkasym Azhitayev, representatives of veterans’ councils, the leadership of the city akimat, residents and guests of the city.
Students of the Academy solemnly raised the Victory Banner, laid flowers at the monument to the Heroes of the war. At the end of the event, a small festive concert was held.
Residents of the city remember and honor their legendary countrymen, their names are carved on the Memorial of Glory, they keep the memory of the great feat, valor and strength of spirit of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers.
