The problems of countering religious extremism and terrorism were discussed

The role of law enforcement agencies in countering religious extremism and terrorism was discussed by the participants of the round table organized by the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies together with the Center for the Study of Religions of Nur-Sultan.

Law enforcement officers, scientists, theologians, and representatives of the clergy took part in its work.

The participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of countering potential terrorist threats, improving forms and methods of combating radical manifestations.

The reasons and conditions generating religious extremism, threats emanating from radical groups, the danger of extremist ideology and its driving forces, recruitment and involvement of citizens in destructive currents are analyzed.

Active discussions took place within the framework of consideration of issues of risk neutralization in the field of public safety.

The role of the public and the need for the active involvement of representatives of religious organizations, executive authorities, and law enforcement agencies in this work were emphasized in support of the State’s efforts to combat terrorism.

Innovative approaches and technologies of work in the youth environment, the choice of religious orientation, the role of the family as the main tool for strengthening national and religious traditions are called important factors in strengthening the potential of society.

The audience was also presented with an overview of effective social and law enforcement practices, successful experience in implementing civil society initiatives aimed at preventing manifestations of extremism and terrorism.
