SEMINAR ON THE TOPIC: “INTERNATIONAL LEGAL COOPERATION IN CRIMINAL CASES”

On June 23-24, 2021, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an international online seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the CIS.

This is the first official event of the Academy as a Basic organization for the training of prosecutor and investigative officers of the CIS member states, the status of which was assigned by the decision of the CIS Foreign Ministry of December 10, 2020.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Prosecutor General’s offices of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, territorial prosecutor’s offices of Kazakhstan, heads of the Secretariat of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS countries and UNODC for Central Asia, as well as experts from the CARICC and the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

The purpose of the event is to increase the level of cooperation in the field of combating crime, to consider common problems and develop ways to solve them, to expand communication links, to study and exchange experience in the field of international cooperation in criminal matters.

In particular, the seminar sessions addressed the issues of extradition, criminal prosecution, transfer of convicted persons, provision of legal assistance and development of the legal framework in criminal cases.

Following the results of the seminar, recommendations were developed for further improvement of the activities of the prosecutor’s office in this area.
