Scientific and practical conference on combating domestic violence

The international scientific and practical conference on combating domestic violence has completed its work at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy, the UN Women Office in Kazakhstan, representatives of central state bodies, domestic and foreign higher educational institutions, experts took part in its work.

The participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of the state of crime related to family and domestic relations, law enforcement practice and the effectiveness of measures taken to prevent and suppress cruelty in the family.

The foreign experience of countering domestic violence was studied. Specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine shared the experience of their countries in this area, told about the features of the criminal law model of responding to domestic violence.

There were also discussions on the development of criminal legislation in the field of family and household relations, toughening responsibility for offenses, criminalization of certain administrative structures.

Following the results of the round table, proposals were developed aimed at ensuring the security of family relations, consolidating the efforts of scientists, practitioners, and members of the public to take effective measures against family tyrants, protect and provide all-round assistance to affected people.
