Rector of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies Yergali Merzadinov met with the Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Central Asia Ashita Mittal.
During the meeting, the main directions of further cooperation in the field of professional development of law enforcement officers of Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries were discussed.
The interlocutors noted the high level of cooperation in strengthening international security, combating the challenges and threats of the modern world.
In particular, the sides exchanged views on joint scientific and educational events on topical issues of combating terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and money laundering.
They also touched upon the implementation of existing projects to combat the financing of terrorism, work with those convicted of crimes of extremist and terrorist orientation.
The Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies has been actively cooperating with UNODC since 2017.
Within the framework of cooperation, about 30 joint events were held in the main areas of countering terrorism and extremism, financial crimes and corruption, drug crimes, human trafficking, cybercrime, and environmental crimes.
The parties expressed interest in strengthening partnership relations and further joint organization of training sessions at the regional and interregional levels.
