Actual issues of countering terrorism became the subject of discussion during a meeting of representatives of the scientific community of leading Kazakhstani universities with German experts.
The educational seminar was organized by the Law Enforcement Academy together with the German Foundation for Legal Cooperation “IRZ”.
Foreign experts shared their experience in this area, talked about methods and ways to prevent extremist manifestations.
The vice-president of the German Federal Criminal Department, Jurgen Maurer, spoke about the current situation in the world, and response measures in the event of a terrorist threat. He also presented to the audience his personal experience in countering terrorism and radicalism in Germany.
In particular, the expert drew attention to the problem of propagating radical religious ideology in the Internet space, noted the particular danger of the spread of extremist ideas for young people visiting such sites.
With the rapid development of online platforms, the concept of “crime” and the Internet begin to go inextricably. Today, almost any type of crime is committed through Internet technology, the speaker emphasized.
The representative of the prosecutor’s office, the head of the central office for the fight against cybercrime in Giessen, Andreas May introduced the audience to the so-called Darknet, the shadow Internet network where criminals commit crimes without leaving any trace.
During the seminar, a direct and open dialogue took place. Kazakhstani scientists and practitioners were able to ask experts questions of interest to them, exchange views, and outline prospects for further interaction.
The meeting participants emphasized the unusual and useful format of the training, as well as their willingness to cooperate in the future.
