On October 14-18, 2019, the city of Karaganda will host an international simulation exercise to combat human trafficking, organized by the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office in conjunction with the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after B. Beisenov, with the support of the OSCE Program Office in Nur Sultan, the US Embassy in Nur Sultan and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The main goal of the training is to improve the system of interagency and multinational response to specific situations of trafficking in persons for the timely identification and assistance to victims, as well as punishment of criminals.
Training will be held by law enforcement and government agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations.
In total, more than 80 people will take part in the training.
Media representatives are invited to cover the event.
During the training event, journalists will be able to:
- talk with Kazakhstani experts on regional cooperation in the fight against human trafficking;
- get acquainted with the training participants from various departments, including police officers, prosecutors, social services, labor inspectorates and non-governmental organizations;
- interview practitioners and experts about the concept and results of training;
- visit the exercise venue: fictitious brothel, sauna, construction site, warehouses and agricultural field, where cases of labor and sexual exploitation will be modeled.
The opening of the training will take place on October 14 at 10.00
