A regular meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Law Enforcement Academy took place.
The meeting was held with the participation of deputies of the Parliament, representatives of central law enforcement agencies, departmental universities of the ministries of defense and internal affairs, as well as scientists and public figures.
At the meeting, the results of interdepartmental research work were discussed, and research topics for 2020 were approved.
In the past year, topics of scientific work were related to issues of strengthening business protection, guarantees of privacy, separation of powers between the prosecutor and pre-trial investigation authorities, procedural costs, criminal and administrative offenses.
Analyzing the results of the work done, the members of the SMC noted the relevance of scientific research in normative and law enforcement activities. Recognizing the scientific research of the year completed, the Council set new vectors for this work in the near future.
So, in the coming year, the efforts of scientists will be aimed at developing recommendations on increasing the level of public confidence in law enforcement agencies, protecting the rights of citizens in criminal proceedings, combating torture in prisons and other issues.
Also at the meeting, changes in the composition of the Scientific and Methodological Council were discussed. The rector of the Academy proposed the inclusion of new candidates into the SMC – a deputy of the Mazhilis Gulnar Bizhanova and a deputy of the Senate Saule Aitpayeva. “We believe that this will raise the work of the Council to a new level and give an additional impetus to the implementation of our legislative initiatives,” said Ergali Merzadinov.
