From 27 to 31 July 2026, the Law Enforcement Academy ran a professional development course for public prosecutors on the topic of «Conducting the prosecution in jury trials».
The training was designed to enhance prosecutors’ professional skills in preparing for and participating in jury trials, handling evidence – including digital evidence – and presenting it effectively in court.
During the sessions, participants learnt tactical techniques for presenting evidence and persuading the jury, as well as skills in public speaking and the reasoned presentation of their position during the examination of evidence and closing arguments. Practical skills in preparing for trial and responding to unusual situations were practised using a quest-based approach.
Alongside the Academy’s teaching staff, the sessions were led by S.K. Tashimbaev, a judge at the Astana City Court of Appeal, and educational psychologists L.S. Shakimova and V.A. Poshatylyuk.
The course also covered topical issues in law enforcement practice, the fundamentals of personality psychology, modern approaches to promoting the «Law and Order» ideology, as well as the potential applications of digital forensics and artificial intelligence in the work of prosecutors.
The course concluded with a mock trial involving a jury, during which the participants demonstrated the knowledge and practical skills they had acquired.
