Academy Holds Round Table on Specific Aspects of Jury Trials August 15, 2025
On August 15, 2025, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a round table on the topic of “Specific Aspects of Jury Trials.”
The discussion brought together representatives from the judiciary, prosecutor’s offices, the bar, and the academic community.
Key Issues Discussed
Participants addressed key challenges related to the functioning of the jury system, including:
- The need for clear legal provisions defining the role of the state prosecutor in the process.
- Improving the procedure for selecting and training jurors.
- Ensuring the independence and informational isolation of jurors in a public trial setting.
Following the round table, the participants agreed that the initiatives discussed will be useful for further improving legal practice.
