Three countries – one goal: countering extremism

Today, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies hosted an international seminar on “Countering extremism and terrorism in modern conditions: national and international experience.”

During the event, the Academy became a center for expert dialogue and exchange of experience between representatives of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan. The event was attended by teachers, practitioners, and students from the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Academy of the Investigative Committee named after A.Y. Sukharev, the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as employees and students of the Law Enforcement Academy under the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The seminar was held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation via the Microsoft Teams platform. The scientific and practical sessions were devoted to current challenges in the field of countering extremism and terrorism, strengthening intergovernmental cooperation, and sharing positive experiences.

Russian participants shared practices for neutralizing threats related to the use of information technology for illegal purposes, highlighted issues of cyber sabotage and the role of the Investigative Committee in countering extremist activities.

Kazakhstani experts spoke about the priority areas of prosecutorial oversight in this field, discussed approaches to the anti-terrorist protection of vulnerable facilities, and ways to prevent citizens from becoming involved in radical groups. Particular attention was paid to educational and preventive measures aimed at building a sustainable immunity of society to ideologies of violence.

Uzbek representatives shared modern aspects of legal regulation of countering extremism and terrorism in their country, emphasizing the need to strengthen law enforcement practices and cross-border cooperation.

The seminar concluded with a final discussion, during which participants agreed that through joint efforts, constant dialogue, and collaborative scientific work, it is possible to effectively counter transnational threats.

The Law Enforcement Academy, as the CIS’s primary organization for training and professional development of prosecutors and investigators, has once again confirmed its important role in developing international partnerships to strengthen regional and global security.
