Courses on investigating torture completed: prosecutors gain new knowledge and skills

Today, the Law Enforcement Academy completed a week-long advanced training course for prosecutors on “Skills for investigating and supervising criminal cases involving torture.”

The aim of the course was to improve prosecutors’ skills in investigating criminal cases of torture and ensuring oversight of the constitutional rights of participants in criminal proceedings.

As part of the program, participants deepened their knowledge in the areas of documentation, rapid response, identification and elimination of torture, and investigation of related criminal cases. Over the course of the week, prosecutors underwent training in investigative procedures in a simulation format, from registration in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations to the completion of the investigation.

One of the key innovations of the course was the investigation of a criminal case in electronic format, which made the training more accessible, interactive, and practice-oriented.

The classes were conducted by leading lecturers from the Academy, employees of the General Prosecutor’s Office, a judge from the Specialized Interdistrict Investigative Court of Astana, and the director of the Kadir-Kasiet public organization. During the training, current and problematic issues of practice were discussed, including appeals in courts against the actions and procedural decisions of officials, as well as preventive measures.

At the end of the course, all participants received certificates confirming their new knowledge and skills in the field of investigating criminal cases of torture.
