Today, the Law Enforcement Academy hosted a chess tournament among employees of the prosecutor’s office, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of prominent statesman and public figure, State Counselor of Justice 2nd Class Maksut Sultanovich Narikbayev.
Maksut Narikbayev made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s legal system, the improvement of the activities of the prosecutor’s office, and the reform of the judicial system, holding the posts of Prosecutor General, Chairman of the Supreme Court, and Rector of KAZGYU.
The event was organized jointly by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Chess Federation.
The tournament was opened and the participants were welcomed by Aida Anuar, Head of the Personnel Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, who noted that the principles of “Adal Azamat” are based on honesty, fairness, and a high level of responsibility on the part of the prosecutor’s office staff. She emphasized that these values help to make informed decisions, act strategically, and take responsibility for one’s actions, which makes them important both in professional activities and in chess.
The guest of honor at the event was Talgat Narikbayev, rector of Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) and son of M.S. Narikbayev. In his speech, he noted that chess, as an intellectual sport, contributes to the development of logical thinking, patience, and the ability to find non-standard solutions. These skills are useful both in the game and in professional growth. The rector of MNU also presented commemorative gifts to all participants, noting their desire for intellectual development and professional improvement.
Employees of regional prosecutor’s offices, departments of the General Prosecutor’s Office, and the Academy took part in the competition. The tournament consisted of nine rounds, organized according to the Swiss system with a computer draw in accordance with FIDE international rules. The time control was 10 minutes per participant without additional time.
The winners of the tournament were:
1st place — Madi Aslan Zhetpisbayuly;
2nd place — Aimbetov Kazbek Temirzhanovich;
3rd place — Tleubaev Daulet Kazikhanovich.
The winners were awarded cups, diplomas, medals, and commemorative gifts.
Holding such events contributes to the development of the intellectual potential of the prosecutor’s office staff, strengthening team spirit, creating a favorable moral and psychological climate, and maintaining sporting traditions.
