On January 30 of this year, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies hosted an off-site meeting of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial Reform of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the management and staff of the Academy. The main topic of discussion was the staffing and scientific support of law enforcement agencies, as well as issues related to improving legislation in this area.

The chair of the Mazhilis Committee, Snezhanna Imasheva, gave a welcoming speech, noting the importance of such meetings for strengthening cooperation between the legislative and law enforcement systems. “Effective law enforcement is not only the foundation of the rule of law, but also a guarantee of the safety of citizens and the protection of their rights. We must ensure the training of highly qualified personnel who are capable of addressing the current challenges of modern society,” said S. Imasheva.

In turn, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aset Chindaliev thanked the deputies for their participation and emphasized: “The quality of the work of law enforcement agencies directly depends on the level of training of personnel. The Academy plays a key role in training professionals who will ensure the rule of law and protect the rights of citizens.”

The rector of the Academy, Marat Seksebaev, familiarized the participants of the meeting with the main areas of activity of the Academy and, as part of the discussion, proposed to legislatively consolidate the status and powers of “listeners,” granting them the right to participate in procedural actions during their internship.

The meeting also raised issues of improving conditions for the Academy’s research staff in terms of establishing additional payments for academic degrees.

During the event, there was a lively discussion and exchange of views, with deputies making a number of recommendations for improving the work of the Academy. Some deputies expressed their desire to participate in the scientific and educational activities of the university.

After the discussion, participants were given a tour of the Academy’s premises, including the courtroom, psychological relief room, cyber center, prosecutor’s and forensic training grounds, and student dormitory.
